Miss Ciccone (aka Madonna) is back in Miami Beach this week. On one of her past visits, she stripped off in the street and posed for legendary fashion photographer Steven Meisel. That image ended up in her highly controversial tome SEX which back in 1992 sold out in a matter of minutes. It became a controversial sensation around the globe, due to its bold erotic content and liberated views of sexual self-expression.
Now some 30 years on the 64-year-old singer has a PopUp venue on the city’s famed Ocean Drive during ART BASEL to give the book the whole gallery treatment with 17 large-format prints culled from Sex, curated by Madonna. However, it’s not her old pals from Versace that have helped her but Saint Laurent’s creative director, Anthony Vaccarello as the re-edition is courtesy of Saint Laurent’s cultural initiative, Rive Droite
Before you get too excited, you should know that these 17 prints are NOT for sale and the reprint of the book is limited to 800 and will set you back a cool $2750 each (nb the original can be found on eBay starting at $69)
The Saint Laurent beachfront gallery will be free to visit for anyone over age 18 from November 29
to December 4 (10 AM - 7 PM).
