Love Is Blind

There is a brand new TV/web series about to hit our screens on Valentines Day just to remind us that in an LGBT community that is maybe a little too over-fixated with online hookup…..sorry dating ….sites,  that there is still a whole world of romance out there for single guys too.  For its second ever original services, Dekko the new LGBT streaming platform, is introducing Love Is Blind, and we can tell you after having binge watched six episodes so far, they are on to a real winner.

Love is Blind is for the hopeless romantics amongst us as it sets up dates with two total strangers who the producers have estimated have enough in common to at least endure a date together hoping that it may lead to something more.  Each week they throw a different couple together into a very intimate activity such as wrestling or body painting that immediately gets the men to let their guards down. Sometimes this is the start of a great day that will end up with a smooch on the dance floor, or even more, but on other occasions the couples are such a mis-match that they cannot wait for the date to end.

What is most appealing about Love is Blind is its sheer naturalness.  There are none of the contrived contestants that most reality shows feel obliged to include to be outrageous or controversial, but just a collection of totally different single gay guys, who all seem to be totally charming and good-looking to boot, who just feel that love has somehow passed them by.  That is not to say their numbers do not include a few with colorful pasts like the ex-porn actor who went on a (very successful) date with an ex go-go dancer and they turned out to be one of the happiest couples so far.

Love is Blind is warm, very cute and refreshingly fresh and a welcome addition to LGBT programming, and we are hoping that future shows will include updates so that we can see if any of the couples did live happily ever after all.
