A new documentary on Queer Icon Sir Cecil Beaton a quintessential multi-talented English eccentric known for his stunning photography and his 2 Oscars for Costume Design (My Fair Lady & Gigi) is now doing the Film Festival rounds. Beaton’s personal relationships included a string of men and women, the most notable of which was with Greta Garbo .
Beaton was also an avid Diarist and his writings read by Rupert Everett form the main basis of the documentary along with a wealth of archive footage, along with interviews with David Hockney, Isaac Mizrahi, and Beaton biographer Hugo Vickers.
Love Cecil is written and directed by Lisa Immordino Vreeland, whose previous films include Diana Vreeland The Eye Has To Travel a stunning biography of the legendary Fashion Editor who was her husband’s grandfather.
