LatiNation Media wins coveted GLAAD MEDIA AWARD for critically acclaimed queer series Living y Ready

Confession time.  Queerguru had never heard of LatiNation Media’s critically acclaimed series, Living y Ready, until we read the news it was the recipient of a GLAAD Media Award in the category of Outstanding Online Journalism – Video or Multimedia // Periodismo digital sobresaliente: vídeo o multimedia.  The moving series is grounded in first-account stories from HIV-positive people of color and their loved ones. The special provides an unprecedented look into the HIV-positive community and its many nuances.

We quickly caught up with binge-watching the eight-episode series that aired in 2025 on LatiNation’s LATV broadcast network, and is streaming on the LatiNation app.  It is extremely moving, especially this episode ¿Tienes HIV, Mijo? A Mother’s Journey that earned the award. It takes a great deal of strength to be able to some out to your parents twice.  First as a gay man, and then again sharing your HIV diagnosis. Watch here.

Andres Palencia, CEO, LatiNation Media, and Executive Producer/Creator of Living y Ready, said, “When I first created the series with the help of Gilead, I couldn’t have predicted it would grow into what it is now. HIV has been framed as a tragedy for decades. Through this series, we meet Martha, the mother. We meet Iván, the son. A mother and son who chose each other, not the disease, and a familia that leaned in instead of pulling away. That’s the story Andrew Tamarkin and Natalia Trejos brought to life.
