We never know what to expect from New York actor and cabaret star JUSTIN VIVIAN BOND (one time half of Kiki & Herb). Their very successful career has taken them to both Broadway & West Stages, the movies, and TV, and to concert venues like Sydney Opera House, and Carnegie Hall.
Now Mx Bond has joined up with Countertenor and Met Opera superstar Anthony Roth Costanzo to make music together. Their voices ….. and their heights …… couldn’t be more different but the results that can be heard on their new album Only an Octave Apart, are nothing less than stunning.
Most of the songs are ones they featured in a series of sold-out concerts at Brooklyn’s St. Anne’s Warehouse in September. They include a mash-up of the 17th-century aria “Dido’s Lament” by Henry Purcell and Dido’s 2003 pop hit “White Flag,” as well as Philip Glass’s “Akhnaten” remixed with the Bangles’ “Walk Like an Egyptian.”
The album in Decca is now available on most major streaming platforms. https://arcjvb.lnk.to/octave
