JUDY : will we love this new biopic?

The more we see and hear of JUDY the new biopic of the late great Judy Garland, the more we are intrigued.  The film is based on the hit play Beyond The Rainbow which quite rightly started in London as it’s about the star’s declining last few years living in the UK.

It was 1969, 30 years she she shot to stardom with The Wizard of Oz, when Garland arrived in London to perform a five-week sold-out run at The Talk of the Town.  It was a troubling time for the star as she adjusts to this low point in her career,  and her addiction to drugs that she just cannot shake off now.  All is not totally lost however, she does meet the much younger Mickey Deans and after a whirlwind romance, he becomes her fifth husband.

Garland is probably the greatest gay icon that ever lived, so within our community there are very high expectations as to how the movie, and in particular Renee Zellweger’s portrayal does justice to the high esteem that Garland is held in.

With release date for the movie very close now, Roadside Attractions have just issued this Featurette which takes us behind the scenes with some of the main players.
