Jessica Chastain in Scenes From Two Very Different Marriages

Golden Globe Winner and Two Time Oscar Nominee Jessica Chastain has a busy year ahead

First up she is starring in HBO’s highly anticipated Scenes from A Marriage remake. Originally written and directed by Ingmar Bergman, the 1973 miniseries starred Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson as an affluent married couple whose marriage is charted across a decade, from disintegration to reconciliation and back again.

This new limited series co-created, written, and directed by Hagai Levi,  reunites  Chastain with Golden Globe Nominee Oscar Isaac, after their 2014 film “A Most Violent Year”.

A more unusual casting for Chastain is that she is starring in a feature remake of the award-winning documentary The Eyes of Tammy Faye.   The original version of the larger-than-life story of the outrageous Tammy Faye Bakker by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato made the ex-wife of crooked Evangelist Jim Bakker into a major gay icon.

The 2000 documentary has now become a cult classic as Tammy Faye’s story is the stuff that movies are made of.  It will be interesting to see what director Michael Showalter (My Name is Doris) makes of it.
