It is the time of year when the winter edition of Bone Island, a male-oriented naturist gathering takes place in the Southernmost place of the US
Dean Townsend came up with the idea for Key West’s Bone Island Bare It All Weekend in 2006, and it was an immediate success. The first year about 30 gay male naturists made their way to the tip of Florida with just —sunscreen, towel, toothbrush, and flip-flops in their luggage. For this’s year event that kicks off on November 30th they will expect some 300 gay men …….. and kudos ti the organisers for welcomig trans men too.
Two favorite local queer venues host the event with the no-clothing parties at Bourbon St. Pub and Island House Resort Key West (1129 Fleming St, Key West), and activities include drag shows (where only the performers wear clothes. As other guest houses introduce clothing-optional rules, it can only get better
With more than 15 parties and events planned for the four days of the festival, not all attendees will make it to everything. But the signature event is Saturday night’s Rainbow Ball at Bourbon St. Pub, where attendees can compete for the title of Mr. Naked Key West 2023.
Florida is also one of Queerguru’s home States and with our local queer community from the grand-standing homophobic governor and his acolytes, it’s more important for us to stand our ground. There can surely be no better way to respond ‘f-ck you’ to his ‘don’t say gay’ campaign than 300 (boners)
