Before Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote Hamilton, back in 2008’s he wrote and starred in In The Heights on Broadway. Nominated for 13 Tony Awards, it won 4 including Best Musical. The story is set over the course of three days, involving characters in the largely Dominican neighborhood of Washington Heights in New York City. The ups and downs of this community of mainly immigrants have great universal appeal and when the Show opened in London it picked up 3 Laurence Oliver Awards. Now it’s about to finally hit the silver screen with a movie version from Warner Brothers directed by Joh Chu (Crazy Rich Asians).
