We always get excited in the queerguru office about any new movie from queer innovative filmmaker John Cameron Mitchell whose resume to date includes Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and the very explicit Shortbus.
How To Talk To Girls at Parties is billed as a science fiction romantic comedy film written by Philippa Goslett and Cameron Mitchell and is based on the short story of the same name by Neil Gaiman. The film stars Elle Fanning, Alex Sharp, Nicole Kidman, Ruth Wilson, and Matt Lucas.
The film had its world premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2017, where it had a less than positive reception. But hey, those French cinephiles don’t get it right all the time, and so we’ll reserve judgment until we see it for ourselves.
The movie is now scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom on May 11, 2018, by StudioCanal UK, and in the United States on May 18, 2018, by A24. We cannot wait.
