The UK Conservatives finished their Party Conference with an LGBTQ+ party night which ended in disarray amidst ‘disgusting’ homophobic abuse
According to ITV News, two sources told the them how one attendee had to be escorted from Reflex nightclub, the venue where the event took place, for calling a gay man a “f*g”. Another man was allegedly thrown out for calling two women a “dirty l*****”, a derogatory term for lesbians. They were told that both perpetrators of the alleged homophobic abuse were Party members.
The Conservatives had already faced heavy criticism for allowing the LGB Alliance, a notoriously anti-trans pressure hate group, to host a stall at the Conservative Party conference for the second year in a row.
The Party has always been well known for its hypocrisy and has insisted that the LGBT+ Conservatives group remove slogan condoms from the conference to avoid a ‘sexualized’ image of the party in the wake of the Chris Pincher scandal – a former Tory deputy chief whip who was investigated for two alleged incidents of sexual assault. ‘Pink News’ suggested that the group was asked to remove the condoms, which bore phrases like “Never kissed a Tory but I’ve had safe sex with one”,
Also this week it was reported that Tory (Conservative) Minister Conor Burns is due to receive a knighthood in Boris Johnson’s resignation honours list. Traditionally departing Prime Ministers are allowed to nominate colleagues with who they have worked with etc to be rewarded for their support.
Burns, a gay MP for Bournemouth West, was sacked as trade minister on Friday (7 October) after a third party complained that they had seen him touching a younger man’s thigh at the Conservative Party conference. However, One Cabinet member said they were “convinced” Truss sacked Conor Burns after he criticized her at a conference event. The LGBT+ Conservative Group reacted immediately by banishing Burns too.
Mind you this is not the first time Burnsmorals has been questioned. In March 2020 he dramatically quit Parliament after a sleaze report found he abused his status as an MP in a dispute between his father and a company.
And so the hypocrisy continues.
