Every year on the Tuesday before Halloween a large crowd gathers in Washington’s Dupont Circle dressed in their best drag for the High Heel Drag Race . It all began some 30 years ago when two men decided to race each other, in drag, from one bar to another.
Now it’s become a major favorite Halloween event for the LGBTQ community and all the local residents who are reminded every year that the highest stiletto heels are always worn better by Queens.

Over in New Hope they have been running their High Heel Drag Race every Halloween for the past 16 years and they insist all the contestants cary a pumpkin as they run They make the whole event like one big party with pre-race festivities with live performances by special guest stars .
KIck off is on Mechanic Street on Sunday, October 27th at 4:30.pm, but the address you also need to make a note of is Havana at 105 S. Main Street for the fabulous After Party. P.S. You don’t have to wear heels for this part BUT it wouldn’t hurt you to get into the whole spirit of it all.
