‘Hey Google’ : you’re my only friend now

Queer Brit actor/writer/director Leon Lopez had us in tears last night.  Unsuspectingly he had  sent us a link to his new short film ‘HEY GOOGLE’ that had been released online only a few hour earlier.

‘Hey Google’ is a very touching short film dealing with issues surrounding Isolation, lockdown and loneliness that we can all relate to in the current COVID 19 crisis.

The entire project was written, filmed and edited in less than seven days. Lopez stated “Covid-19 has been a testing experience, but inspired and pushed me as a filmmaker to demonstrate just what you can achieve with little resources in a  short space of time during unexpected circumstances. The film brought out so many emotions and resonates with so many people who have seen it. I would go as far as to say that it’s some of my best work to date.”

Lopez is known mainly for his roles in the UK’s most successful TV Soaps BROOKSIDE and EASTENDERS, and he recently moved to Leeds to become a director for another TV soap Emmerdale.  However Queerguru knows him for  queer drama SOFT LAD the first feature he directed, and for being an actor/cinematographer/producer of Patrick Cash’s excellent webs series The Grass is Always Grindr about HIV.

Starring Saeed Farhat, check out Hey Google  below ….. but maybe first grab a box of Kleenex
