Well. we know this first one is. For the first time in 58 years, Funny Girl is heading back to Broadway. The revival will star Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart, Lady Bird) as lead character Fanny Brice. Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) the cast also stars/includes Ramin Karimlo, Jane Lynch & Jared Grimes with Peter Francis James Ephie Aardema, Debra Cardona, Toni DiBuono and Martin Moran.
Scheduled to open on 24 April which is also Barbra Streisand’s 80th Birthday ….. here’s a clip of the cast in rehearsal.
Meanwhile, news from the Midwest suggests that Pulitzer Prize winner Doug Wright‘s (I Am My Own Wife.) new play Good Night Oscar that has just had its world premiere in Chicago’s Goodman Theater and is getting rave reviews for its star Sean Hayes.
The Chicago Tribune wrote “Sean Hayes is a revelation“, and ” displays talents here most of his fans will have no idea he had at his disposal”.” ” its a stunner of a lead performance”.
