This somewhat surprising Greek/LGBT film has no dialogue, very little in the way of plot but is poetic and a sensuous account of a relationship that is trying to survive. The two young men leave the city and hitch hike to a deserted beach on the isle of Crete hoping that the peaceful and serene surroundings will allow them to heal their fractured relationship.
Their thoughts are portrayed to us by a narrator who reveals their somewhat muddled thoughts on if a summer of bliss can be the answer to their problems They had fallen in love but now discover they cannot handle what that entails. Played by real-life lovers Hermes Pittakos and Sanuye Shoteka and presumably based on their own life, the movie features a great deal of nudity and sexual intimacy which adds to its authenticity.
Directed by Konstantinos Menelaou, (and this is his Uncut Directors Cut) this is hardly the usual type of LGBT feature film, He Loves Me will appeal to romantic souls who love to question everything.
