Hand and Jones launch re-imagined essential cashmeres

When we phoned Brit queer Fashion Designer GRAHAM HAND in London to congratulate him on the launch of HAND and JONES, he commented that it was probably not an ideal time to start a new label. We totally disagree, there is no such thing as a wrong time for beautiful updated cashmere classics as his.

Hand has partnered with  Architect Michael Jones. So spanning the disciplines of fashion, architecture and art, their aim is to quietly produce a minimal range of remarkable clothing and simple design-led products.

The duo behind the range intend to create what they are increasingly unable to find in the existing men’s market – ageless, enduring wardrobe staples for a diverse range of men of all ages, shapes and sizes. They have created for people like themselves, whose lives need a balance between home, work, metropolitan and country living. The colour palette is inspired by the remote and evocative marshlands around their base in Rye, East Sussex, with a minimal design philosophy and rigorous attention to detail that reflects their busy working lives in London’s Clerkenwell.

The item that grabbed our attention was one of their signature garments, the Sweatshirt Sweater – a refined hybrid of a sweatshirt and wool cashmere sweater. The piece combines the classic sweatshirt ‘V’ neck insert with hand linked detailing at the set-in sleeve and a ribbed hem and cuffs. They  will also be producing versions with bold text in a contrasting yarn across the chest to create a classic yet quirky varsity feel.
