Hallmark loses its gay virginity

Another big sign that we are making inroads into the hetro-normative world is that Hallmark Channel the family oriented highly sentimental TV Channel has its first queer Christmas movie! And if that is not surprising enough, they actually have openly gay actors playing gay characters

In The Christmas House two brothers Mike (Robert Buckley who also wrote the script) and Brandon  (Jonathan Bennett)  have returned home for the holidays at the request of their mother in hopes of making a memorable occasion as they prepare to sell the family home.  Brandon has brought his husband Jake (Brad Harder) along  and they are awaiting a call about the adoption of their first child, who is played by Harder’s real-life son Kael.

In real life Harder is married to Graham Arychuk and the pair are currently expecting a second child via surrogacy.

Also starring Ana Ayora, Treat Williams, Sharon Lawrence, and Mattia Castrillo, The Christmas House will premiere Sunday, November 22 at 9 p.m. ET.

This cute romcom  may not be an award-winning drama but for Hallmark its a groundbreaking move, and if you like it, maybe send them a note which will encourage them to do more.
