GOOD GRIEF : a queer movie about facing the truth and moving on when life is thrown an unexpected curve

4 time Emmy Award Winner the creator and star of Schitt’s Creek, Dan Levy shares the first preview of his filmmaking debut. The openly gay Levy conceived the story of ‘Good Grief’ during the Covod pandemic when he first felt compelled to tell a story about found family and the importance of it.

Levy,  wrote, directed, and stars as Marc in Good Grief, who is a former painter and current children’s book illustrator who’s content with his life in London. He is however often overshadowed by his exuberant and charismatic husband Oliver (Luke Evans), an author whose novels have been adapted into a wildly popular global movie franchise.  But when Oliver abruptly dies. Marc is not only forced to deal with the tragedy, but hard truths come to light.  They compel him and his two closest friends, Sophie (Ruth Negga) and the more reserved Thomas (Himesh Patel), to travel to Paris.   Also in the cast is Brit funny lady Celia Imrie plays Marc’s lawyer, while French (hunky) gay actor Arnaud Valois plays a man whom Marc meets one day at an art gallery. They share a moment that reminds Marc he might love again someday.

Levy told Entertainment Weekly that the movie is not a  rom-com, but a “dramedy” covering serious issues around death and grieving. It’s also about the bond between friends.

Good Grief will screen on Netflix on January 5th
