Queerguru has put the champagne on ice to celebrate that two of the ‘elements’ of one of the most touching queer films in the last decade are reuniting. The multi-award-winning God’s Own Country was the debut feature film for Brit queer filmmaker Frances Lee and also the breakthrough role for Brit actor Josh O’Connor.

It’s the story of young farmer Johnny Saxby who numbs his daily frustrations with binge drinking and casual sex until the arrival of a hot Romanian migrant worker for lambing season ignites an intense relationship that sets Johnny on a new path.

The film is now regarded as a queer classic, and it cemented the careers of these two men. Lee went on to write and direct the period queer film Ammonite with not one, but two Oscar multi-nominees Kate Winslet (7 Nominations +m 1 Win) and  Saoirse Ronan (4 Nominations).  Set in 1840s England it is based on the acclaimed but overlooked fossil hunter Mary Anning and a young woman sent to convalesce by the sea develop an intense relationship, altering both of their lives forever.

O’Connor went on to join Netflix’s grand drama The Crown about the British Royal family and his performance a Prince Charles won him a Golden Globe.

Now Lee has announced he is teaming up once more with O’Connor,  for a queer period horror film that will explore “class and queerness”.  O’Connor is set to pay a  sad young man alone in an epic wilderness

Lee is writing the script which he is adapting from an un-named novel.  He once said, “I’ve always wanted the opportunity to make a really, really f**king scary horror film.”
