This year the Tribeca Film Festival for the very first time ever will celebrate Pride on Saturday May 4th and headlining all the festivities with the Queen herself, Lady Bunny. They are screening the world premiere of the HBO doc WIG by Chris Moukarbel (Banksy Does New York) which shows the history of the legendary Wigstock which includes film from last year’s grand return of the dragfest after too long an hiatus. Then to top it all off Lady Bunny will be performing live after the screening.
It’s all part of a whole day of LGBTQ events Tribeca are mounting to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall. There will be a whole slew of queer panels that will include Pose star Angelica Ross and Pose creator Steven Canals on a panel entitled “Narrative Ownership: Who Gets to Tell Whose Story, and Raul Castillo (Looking) will be on a panel entitled “LGBTQ Media Visibility.”
Plus there will be individual talks from the likes of queer luminaires as Larry Kramer and Neil Patrick Harris
