First look of Irish actor (don’t say openly gay) Andrew Scott’s award-worthy performance in Netflix’s Ripley

Irish actor (don’t say openly gay) Andrew Scott who we fear will be unfairly overlooked by the Academy Award Nominating Committee for his stunning performance in All of Us Strangers is nevertheless about to stun us again.

Netflix has just dropped this trailer for their new adaption of Patricia Highsmith’s Ripley novels.  Set in ’60s New York, the film sees Scott as the titular grifter we know to be talented, hired to track down an aristocrat’s son, Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn) and his bestie Marge Sherwood (Dakota Fanning) in Italy.

‘s 1999 movie ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ was rewarded with an Academy Award nomination for Jude Law.

Just based on this trailer alone, there is no justice in this world if Scott’s performance in Ripley is not showered with Awards. It screens on Netflix on April 4th …..watch this space
