Feral : a refreshing new queer webseries

feral-slide2

Dictionary.com gives the definition of ‘feral’ as existing in a natural state, not domesticated or cultivated; wild, which makes it a perfect title for writer/director Morgan Jon Fox’s new queer web-series. Set and filmed in his home state of Memphis, his refreshing edgy drama is about a set of 20-something year olds who must deal with finding their way through relationships that have as many downs as ups. Having said that, what Fox is really good at is developing very realistic scenarios that may lack the urban sophistication of most LGBT series that are usually set in NY or LA , but he very cleverly shows that dealing with ‘real’ issues such as depressing needn’t make for depressing viewing.

The highly original Feral is essentially about love and lost : Billy (Jordan Nicholls) has to recover from a rather tragic end to his relationship with Carl (Ryan Masson) the love-of-his-life, whilst Daniel (Seth Daniel) his room-mate is keeping his options with having a boyfriend, plus sleeping with Jordan (Tristan M. Garner) his drug-addicted mess of an ex roommate, and regularly have one night stands with different Mr Right-Nows. Then when they look to take in a 3rd roommate, the ‘successful’ candidate looks like he make very ambiguous moves of his own which will add another dimension to the mix.

Feral is romantic, erotic, thoughtful, sensitive, funny, honest and one of the best new web series of the year. It comprises of eight episodes which range from 18 – 24 minutes each and is the very first original series commissioned by Dekkoo a brand new LGBT subscription streaming service owned by Gaius Media, who also own TLA releasing, one of the largest distributors of LGBT movies.
