London’s art scene is forever evolving and one of its current focal points is the collection of dozens of galleries and creative spaces at Enclave in Deptford, home to Goldsmiths University and one of the last London boroughs to retain old-school London vibes.
Enclave is a cool, artist-led, non-profit collective, focusing on radical, experimental galleries and creative organisations. The VSSL Studio at Enclave is dedicated to the exploration and celebration of contemporary queer art and culture.
This week sees the launch of FACET, a programme of five queer visual art exhibitions over the next few months. Curated by artist and VSSL co-founder Benjamin Sebastian, the inaugural exhibition features work from Benjamin and Alicia Radage. This exhibition invites viewers to explore the edges of queer identities through a mix of sculpture, installation, paper-sewn tapestry, performance (to camera) and new media. Diffusing margins between known and unknown worlds of the self and otherness, they encourage a reimagining of numerous identity structures including gender, sexuality and humanity. The exhibition runs June 1 – 18 with a launch event on June 2 (all welcome 6-9pm, please RSVP). As well as the launch event Benjamin and Alicia will host a conversation chaired by Serpentine Galleries Curator Tamsin Hong on Saturday, June 17, 6-8pm.
Exhibition open 1-18 June Thursdays – Sundays 12-5pm
