Eyes of Paolo ….. seen through the eyes of Queerguru’s Richard Gilles

What is not to say about Paolo Calias enchanted, extraordinary life?

Sardinia, Venice, Rome, Paris, Fellini, Duchamp, Cocteau: as a child, Paolo became an accomplished portraitist and throughout his various artistic phases – paintings, art happenings, film sets, interior designs, tableaux vivants – he has always managed to keep the innate dreamlike qualities of the boy he once was: truth, purity, and innocence.

Far from and close to Fellinis flamboyant extravaganza, his friends deliver a rare and truthful intensity in the way they decide to scrutinize the portraitist and his audience. Paolos Invented Family is composed of celebrities and lesser-known people. What truly interests the artist is the freedom the subjects allow to become their true selves with a total trust towards the artist, while posing for and being magnified by him.

Are these portraits photos or paintings? We will let the master keep his secrets and invite you to discover his new Parisian wonders

The second Episode of Paolos delightful Invented Family is on show until January 8th at the Mazarine Variations Gallery where the visitors will be warmly welcomed by Christine Lahoud and Marussa Gravagnuolo.

Richard Gilles is slightly past his prime, but still vivacious true Parisian spirit. He has worked as a journalist in the spheres of the arts and luxury for the last few decades and is now the happy correspondent for QueerGuru in the City of Lights.
