EMERGENCE : the inaugural exhibition at the new Joshua Tree Gallery of Contemporary Art

There can be no better role model to inspire one for the new year (or any year for that matter) than the multi-talented irrepressible Hollywood photographer Michael Childers.  A man I am fortunate enough to call my friend and although we are about the same age, he runs rings around me on how much he can squeeze into a life.  Even a very serious bout of Covid didn’t slow him down and recently he produced his annual Night of The Stars Gala in Palm Springs  and then he had a new exhibition of his art at the Melissa Morgan Gallery in Palm Springs:

Now he is working on yet another prestigious exhibition of his work which will have a Grand Gala opening on January 21, 2022.  As usual, we get to share this sneak preview with you.

The exhibition ….called Emergence … will mark the opening of The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s state-of-the-art gallery in Greater Joshua Tree which has formed an innovative new partnership with the renowned multi-national art gallery, ARTCO. Now titled the Joshua Tree Gallery of Contemporary Art

EMERGENCE will fill the gallery with the photographic artwork of Michael Childers and  also Gordon Clark.  The exhibition presents new works from each artist as well as works that have adorned the walls of esteemed museums and galleries around the globe.

Childers, a truly iconic living legend, has an immense body of work : from his photographic work at Sir Laurence Olivier’s National Theater in London, to 200+ magazine covers including, among others, Vogue, GQ, Dance, Esquire, and Elle, to being a founding photographer for Andy Warhol’s Interview and After Dark magazines  Childers has created some of the most renowned portraits of Hollywood and music icons and produced numerous award-winning films.

For the new exhibition, EMERGENCE, his exhibited works include his stunning newest body of work, Nude Fusions (2021), his provocative and never-before-exhibited White Party (2002) collection, fantastic selections from his LA Drag Ball (1974) that was previously exhibited at the Palm Springs Art Museum, and several of his famous portraits of Hollywood celebrities.

The Grand Gala is January 21, 2022 from 6-9 pm.  and then the exhibition will run through Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 5 pm.
