For its latest Edition, Elska Magazine the queer bookzine, forsook international capital cities and travelled just 500 miles from its home base in Providence Rhode Island to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Its mainly known as The Steel City because it makes a lot of it, and also The City of Bridges due to the fact it has some 446 of them, However the LGBT community know it more as being the setting for the Showtime TV Series QUEER AS FOLK (even though for budgetary reasons it was actually filmed in Toronto).
However Elska Magazine’s Editor and Photographer-in-Chief LIAM CAMPBELL. admitted to Queerguru that he nothing about the City before he arrived there. He chose Pittsburgh because his mailbag had started to become full of letters from local gay men extolling the city’s virtues as now being one of the most vibrant, up-and-coming, and truly welcoming queer cities in the US.
Lucky for Campbell, they were right and he soon found 15 local lads eager to participate in this issue and share their stories. As usual all of them are just regular guys who are filmed in their neighborhood, and if they feel comfortable enough, are also in various stages of undressed
‘Elska Pittsburgh’ It is available in a limited edition collectable print version or in a downloadable e-version. A companion e-zine called ‘Elska Ekstra Pittsburgh’ containing outtakes, behind the scenes tales, plus images and stories from four men shot for the issue who didn’t fit in the main mag is also available.
