Drag Brunch @ Taco Bell …… yes, Taco Bell

If this Press Release landed in our in-tray on April Ist we wouldn’t even think twice about this story.  But evidently is real.  Very real. There’s a brand new ….. and most unlikely place ….. to go for a Drag  Brunch now

The Taco Bell Drag Tour — which features two shows per day and includes the opportunity to order Taco Bell items like their $5 Bell Breakfast Box — is slated to kick off this Sunday, May 1 at Taco Bell’s flagship Cantina location in Las Vegas. From there, events are scheduled at the Wrigleyville Cantina in Chicago on Sunday, May 22; the Nashville Cantina on Sunday, May 29; the Times Square Cantina in New York City on Sunday, June 12; and the Fort Lauderdale Cantina on Sunday, June 26.

Taco Bell says the concept came from members of Live Mas Pride, Taco Bell’s LGBTQIA+ employee resource group, which was launched in 2020 and now includes over 100 employees.

Sean Tresvant, Taco Bell’s global chief brand said “We understand the importance of creating safe spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community and are thrilled to provide a unique experience that spotlights and celebrates the wonderful artform of drag and its influence in culture with their chosen families

To further back the initiative, Taco Bell and the Taco Bell Foundation have partnered with the It Gets Better Project. Part of each Drag Brunch will be dedicated to speaking with attendees about the project, and Taco Bell plans to continue working with the non-profit organization moving forward.

“What started nearly twelve years ago as an effort to provide hope and encouragement to young LGBTQ+ people has become a global movement to uplift and empower queer youth before they’re in crisis,” Brian Wenke, the It Gets Better Project’s executive director, explained. “We are beyond excited to partner with Taco Bell and the Taco Bell Foundation to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community through the Drag Brunch experience and to collaborate on programming designed to engage LGBTQ+ youth around their career aspirations and future potential.
