Deco + Drag at The Wolfsonian in Miami Beach

The Wolfsonian Museum is an imposing building that sits in the heart of Miami Beach’s glorious Art Deco District.  As a museum, library, research center and store it acts as a centre of excellence for the whole style movement that celebrates the style of architecture and so much more that define the City.

Another thing that Miami’s South Beach is known for aew Drag Queens, and in this city which has a very significant LGBTQ Community, there are more than a few of them strutting their stuff.  If therefore made sense to combine the two, and that’s exactly what the Wolfsonian are doing in a event this February that  they (unsurprisingly) call  DECO + DRAG.

They tried the first one of these in the Summer and it was such a success the performers are getting dragged in their finery  again.  Bringing 1920s flair into 2020, and channeling the flappers and glamour goddesses of old, Karla Croqueta headlines the ‘girls’ putting on show stopping performances against a dazzlingly Deco backdrop,

Also expected to take the stage on this occasion will be Aura , FKA Twink Stephanie Cockroach  and  Opal Am Rah.

There are cocktails courtesy of resident mixologist, Carlton Maloney,  and especially fab is that you get to pop upstairs to experience an exhibition tour of “Deco: Luxury to Mass Market” with Croqueta and Wolfsonian curator Shoshana Resnikoff.
