Dame Maggie Smith CH, one of the most award-winning actors of her generation and at her age still performing as the rather grand Dowager Countess of Grantham and the rather scary Professor Minerva McGonagall. She also has a brand new. movie in US theaters right now with The Miracle Club starring alongside Kathy Bates and Laura Linney as three Irish widows who win a pilgrimage to the sacred French town of Lourdes.
And in between filming? Well, the feisty 88-year-old has just taken up modeling. Actually better still she has become the face of Loewe the Spanish luxury fashion house with the best accessories ever. Wearing an ombré coat and matching Puzzle bag in one photo and a Paseo bag in another photo, Dame Maggie’s inclusion has been hailed as a breath of fresh air.
Under the auspices of Lowe’s creative director Jonathan Anderson these images shot by none other than Jurgen Teller are nothing less than regal. And stunning too
PS We are so thrilled Dame Maggie displays such an elegant sense of taste, as another Spanish Courterier was also looking for a new face for their new product. Balenciaga now based in Paris, just launched and grabbing headlines (for all the wrong reasons) are selling this little number for $950. And it’s dry clean only! It would nevertheless been fun to show it to Dame Maggie when she was in one of her Dowagar moods.
