CRUISE : a new musical set in 1980’s queer London

Following in the steps of the mega-success of Russell T Davies “It’s A Sin” about how the AIDS pandemic changes the landscape of the whole gay scene in London in 1980s comes CRUISE. It’s a new musical written and performed by Warhorse star Jack Holden set in the same period, but also looks at what happened next for all those gay men who survived.

Cruise is the story of one of them. Michael and his boyfriend are both diagnosed with HIV which was considered a death sentence back then at the height of the epidemic. So he decides to sell his house so he can afford to go wild in the time he has left.   However the Doctors had got it wrong in his case, and when he unexpectedly survives, he is forced to now think about rebuilding his  life.= to cope with this new reality.

Holden, who also frequently performs  with the Royal Shakespeare Company, says that his one-man-play  is based on a true story which gives it a real air of authenticity

Cruise is set to open at The Duchess Theatre in London on 18 May and run until 13 June.
and a filmed version will also be available to watch online at Stream.Theatre from 15-25 April.
