Chef Christopher Styler launches THE GOLDEN GIRLS COOKBOOK

There is a new expression that we have heard from so many Queerguru readers around  the world and that is ‘covid pounds”.  It’s one of the side effects of religiously keeping to the strict Lockdown rules.  The more we stay home the more we eat, and for so many of us that means comfort food.

Perfect timing then for Chef Christopher Styler to launch a brand new cook book inspired by one of the greatest gay TV programs of all time The Golden Girls.    So much of the ‘Girls’ time was spent hanging about together in the kitchen and when they were not throwing shade, they were cooking and eating.

The kitchen (and the food) was easily the fifth character in the show,” reads publicity material for his recently released “The Golden Girls Cookbook.” “Those four women celebrated with food, they reminisced with food, and they solved each other’s problems over food.”

Styler points out that only Sophia appeared to have cooked on the show  so  he mined the show for cooking references and to come up with a 90-recipes accompanied by photos by The New York Times food photographer Andrew Scrivani.

Incidentally the book was published on September 29, 2020, the 35th anniversary of the show’s premiere.  You can buy it on Amazon where you can also find another of Styler’s books : The Desperate Housewives Cookbook.
