London’s Barbican Library has just issued an updated version of a map of the world’s best LGBTQ+ authors, making it easier for people to source new queer books to read. Cleverly based on a map of London’s Tube System it includes more than 100 queer authors with work across the literary field.
If you look to the right of the map, you’ll notice they have color-coded it into genres, and better still all the authors featured on the map have their works available to borrow from the library. If by any unlikely chance, they have missed out on your favorite author (!) let the Barbican know for when they do their next update
The timing couldn’t be more perfect to support queer books in the fashion as in the US so many of them are now being banned by several reactionary politicians such as Gov De Santis of Florida
PS If you are in the UK and wish to purchase any of these books, be sure to visit Gay’s the Word an independent bookshop in central London, which was founded in 1979 and is the oldest LGBTQ+ bookshop in the United Kingdom.
