If you cannot get enough of ‘Looking‘ star openly gay Brit actor Russell Tovey currently getting rave notices for performing in the U.K.’s Royal National Theater’s revival of Angels in America, then here is a preview of a new TV show he has just made called Queers. Co-starring with openly gay actor Ben Wishaw, it charts an entire century of UK gay history – in a single room.
Set in one English pub, it’s packed with a stellar cast which also includes Rebecca Front, Alan Cumming and Gemma Whelan, and each of their characters will deliver a 15-minute monologue on a topic related to LGBTQ+ issues of their time.
It has all been curated and directed by openly gay Sherlock star Mark Gatiss for the BBC’s Gay Britannia season, marking the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalization of homosexuality in England and Wales.
No confirmation yet if the BBC will release it worldwide but we will keep you posted. Meanwhile there is a live global telecast of Angels in America which will be screened in selected US movie theaters on July 20th & 27th.
