Britain’s new Cabinet could be bad news for the LGBTQ+ community

As the dust settles on the new British Prime Minister’s first Cabinet , it is all starting to look grim for the LGBTQ+ community.  Truss’s Cabinet is dominated by ministers who have voted against LGBTQ+ rights, as well as those who have traditionally voted in favor of advancing LGBTQ+ rights but embraced anti-trans talking points in recent years.

This includes Nadhim Zahawi, the so-called  Minister for Equalities and  Deputy PM/Health Secretary Thérèse Coffey who opposes marriage equality.  Even though there are 26 Conservative openly LGBTQ+ MPs, not one of them made it into the new Cabinet.

But in a sign of Britain’s continued class divide, the vast majority of the new Cabinet have been educated at private, fee-paying schools — more even than under Truss’ predecessor Boris Johnson.   The only Gold Star that Truss may get in forming her Cabinet is that for the first time ever there are no white men in the top four positions..

Meanwhile, Truss is already under pressure to ban family-friendly drag.  She is being urged to restrict events it views as “political indoctrination” at school, which they call a “trojan horse” for what they call “radical gender theory”.

The irony of it all is that the protesters are from a self-proclaimed Free Speech Union (FSU) who claim they are dedicated to “upholding free speech” !!!
