Queerguru is always up for finding new ways to celebrate our queerness, so we’re really happy to come across the work of Daniel Samuel Calderon. He is a queer Filipino-Canadian theatre artist based out of Vancouver where he is an emerging actor, director, theatre maker and filmmaker
In 2018 he created his solo drag-clown extravaganza: Big Queer Filipino Karaoke Night which premiered at the 2018 Vancouver Fringe Festival. Fast forward to 2023 and Calderon and his Producers are bringing it back ONLINE as an interactive livestream Clown-Drag-Karaoke Extravaganza. Serving up Filipino-Canadian identity shenanigans, queer insights, family epiphanies, and soul-gratifying karaoke! Based on Calderon’s visit to his family’s ancestral land, the Philippines, this show is an interactive celebration of the intersections found in oneself.
