This week has been a wake-up call for the Hollywood guys who give go-aheads on big blockbuster mainstream movies. Supergirl crashed to earth and is currently $232 million in the red; even Tom Cruise couldn’t dig his way out of Digger’s critical and commercial flip, which still owes the Studio $190 million. Then there is 2026’s The Social Reckoning a sequel to the Oscar-winning 2010 hit The Social Network, which is expected to lose Sony some $200 million.
BUT QUEERGURU IS THE BEARER OF GOOD NEWS: come January, it will be smiles and cheers as FOX releases box office gold with good old-fashioned entertainment as BAYWATCH IS BACK. Sadly, they put a few bikini-clad girls to clutter up some of the scenes, and granted it’s a TV series as opposed to a movie, but if anyone can make us enjoy the depths of authentic real-life (beach) dramas, then it’s this.
