David Robilliard
was a queer British poet and artist, and also sometime model for his artist friends the legendary Gilbert and George. He was also on of the very many talents that was lost to the AIDS pandemic in the 1980’s.
However thanks to film/TV maker, Joe Ingham, Robilliard and his work are not forgotten. He has just a beautiful short film Baby Lies Truthfully, includes not only lines from David’s book of the same name but also quotes from his other books The Cat’s Pyjamas and Swallowing Helmets.
For the project he approached Gilbert and George to provide a cover and heartthrob Brit actor Russell Tovey to read the lines. it’s an extremely powerful piece which somehow serves as a celebration of Robilliard ‘s work and also as sobering reminder of the worse time in our community’s history
