English National Opera’s Artistic Consultant Daniel Kramer who is  staging a revival of Harrison Birtwistle’s iconic masterpiece THE MASK OF ORPHEUS had the inspired idea of inviting artist/designer  Daniel Lismore to design the costumes.

Lismore, once described by Vogue as ‘England’s most outrageous dresser‘ has used 400,000 Swarovski crystals so that each of the leading characters appear in three forms and have been given their own crystal colours.

The ENO unveiled the costumes last week, and to call them stunning is a major understatement.
