The clock is really ticking down now , although not quite fast enough for us. Come June 7th Netflix are finally releasing globally their mini-series of Armistead Maupin’s beloved gay classic TALES OF THE CITY.
This series begins a new chapter in the story. when Mary Ann (Laura Linney) returns to present-day San Francisco and is reunited with her daughter Shawna (Ellen Page) and ex-husband Brian (Paul Gross), twenty years after leaving them behind to pursue her career. Fleeing the midlife crisis that her picture-perfect Connecticut life created, Mary Ann is quickly drawn back into the orbit of the matriarch Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis), her chosen family and a new generation of queer young residents living at 28 Barbary Lane.
As Michael Toliver’ sums it up so beautifully ,“Once you feel seen like Anna Madrigal makes you feel seen, you don’t want to leave.”
P.S. If you feel that you cannot wait to see all your old favorites again (and all their new neighbors) the you could always hop on a plane to Toronto as the Inside Out Film Festival is holding the World Premiere of the new series on May 28th 2019.
