Andrew Haigh’s ALL OF US STRANGERS is finally rewarded as it sweeps the board at the DORIANS

2023 was a particularly good year for some excellent queer cinema, but you wouldn’t have known that if you have been following all the major Award Shows this year.  The  Oscars managed to nominate  Colman Domingo for Rustin …… the only 2nd time in the Academy’s history that a gay man was nominated for a gay role. The British Academy looked more promising with leading queer filmmaker Andrew Haigh‘s wonderful gay romance All Of Us Strangers netting a nomination for Outstanding British Film, plus Best DirectorAdapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor for Paul Mescal, Best Supporting Actress Claire Foy, and Best Casting.  But exactly like similar nominations at the EMMY’s they won NOTHING.

But it’s a new day of a new week and the announcement of the winners of the prestigious DORIAN AWARDS has put a big smile on the faces of the whole Queerguru team.  The Awards are from GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics honors the best in film, television and Broadway/Off-Broadway, mainstream   to LGBTQIA+.  At the DORIANS this past year’s treasure trove of excellent queer culture is not just recognised but rightly win Awards for being the best.

GALECA, of which Queerguru is a proud member, serves to remind bigots, bullies, and our own beleaguered communities that the world looks to the informed Q+ eye on entertainment. The organization also advocates for better pay, access and respect for its members, especially those in our most underrepresented and vulnerable segments.  Plus GALECA: is a core member of CGEM: Critics Groups for Equality in Media, an alliance of underrepresented entertainment journalists organization.

Here then is the Full List of Dorian Winners 2024
