Fresh from his recent success portraying Jim Bakker in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Acadamy Award-nominated American/British Andrew Garfield is heading back to our screens in a totally different change of directions. The man who once flew into our lives as Superman, and broke our hearts in Angels in America is starring in his very first musical.
tick, tick…BOOM! is an adaptation of the autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, who revolutionized theater as the creator of Rent which he sadly never lived to see become the major success that it was. Now Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda is making his feature directorial debut telling Larson’s very poignant story.
Set in a theater world ravaged by the AIDS pandemic, Larsen’s struggle with his own mortality as he put the finishing touches to his musical masterpiece, is a tale waiting to be told.
For this Netflix production due to be released on November 12/19, Garfield and Miranda are joined by an exceptional cast. They include Alexandra Shipp, Tony Award nominee Robin de Jesús, Tony Award nominee Joshua Henry, Emmy Award nominee Mj Rodriguez, Emmy Award winner Bradley Whitford, Tariq Trotter aka Black Thought of The Roots, with Emmy and Tony Award winner Judith Light, and Vanessa Hudgens. The film is written by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson and produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.
Here is the first official trailer in which Garfield really in his element sings his heart out. Better put this one on the DO NOT MISS LIST
