In the 1970’s when gay porn was still very rare and not easy to access, lots of men, gay and straight, found what they were looking for scantily clad on the pages of The International Male Catalogue.
With its army of clean-cut fresh faced-man with their six-pack abs and even with their very generous bulges the catalogues were unashamedly homoerotic but considered ‘decent’ enough that in some households it could even be left on the coffee table
We should never underestimate how many of us were out there lusting after these men as by the 1990s, there were about three million catalogs sent out every quarter, with an amassed revenue of well over $100 million..
Now the story of International Male is the subject of a brand new documentary: All Man, directed by BRYAN DARLING and JESSE FINLEY REED “More than outrageous fashions, hunky models, and scandalous undies, All Man is a journey across three decades of the International Male catalog’s lasting impact on fashion, masculinity, and gay rights,” reads the documentary’s mission statement.
Here then is a sneak preview of the highly anticipated doc which hasn’t got a release date yet BUT keeping watching this space
