One of the remarkable plus points of this wretched Lockdown is the innovative ways that artists, queer or otherwise, have used to bring us such an array of culture into our homes. Better still on a global basis like we have never seen before and so essential with the world being so fractured right now.
From East London queer writer/director/performer Alexis Gregory (Riot Act) tells us he is about to direct DECLAN, a new play written and performed by Alistair Hall will be making its debut online to raise funds for London’s The Actors Centre
Set in a Wiltshire suburb, Declan is a contemporary ghost story, exploring isolation, fear of the outside world and the distance between two friends. As Jimbo recalls the disappearance of his best friend Declan, he is plagued by ghosts of the past, present and future, and the boundaries between the real and imagined, the dead and the living, become blurred. With the scent of Declan thick in the air, this is a story of magic realism and total obsession.
As usual Gregory, who loves working with his friends on these pieces, will have videography by award-winning filmmaker Layke Anderson (Mankind). The digital play is available to be streamed for ten days (19 – 28 June). Info and tickets HERE
