It has been almost 30 years since Del Shores write a wee stage play called Sordid Lives which not only won awards but was adapted into a movie in 2000. It was the story of an (eccentric) Texas family coming together in the aftermath of the matriarch’s death. It received mixed reviews from the mainstream press but was totally adored by the queer community who made it a cult classic.
Shores had gathered together an exceptional cast and introduced the world to the totally loveable Leslie Jordan. For that alone we are indebted to him and his production partner Emerson Collins. Eight years later we had Sordid Lives TV Series and then in 2017 the equally hilarious film A Very Sordid Wedding .
It’s hard to believe that since then we have not only lost Leslie Jordan, but also other ‘Sordid’ stars Olivia Newton-John, Carole Cook, Sarah Hunley, and Rue McLanahan. They are gone but not forgotten as Shores and Collins are now planning A SORDID CELEBRATION OF LIVES.
This Livestream event will broadcast on both FaceBook and YouTube with appearances and stories from “Sordid” alumni Bonnie Bedelia, Beau Bridges Caroline Rhea, Dale Dickey Rosemary Alexander, Newell Alexander Ann Walker, Bobbie Eakes, Alec Mapa Lorna Scott and David Steen
