The London based BalletBoyz an all-male award winning dance company has always been a Queerguru favorite Here are dancers Jordan Robson and Bradley Waller with choreography by Christopher Wheeldon and set to contrasting scores by Charlotte Harding and Keaton Henson, Them/Us is an inventive double bill asking where we see ourselves in relation to the “other,” and explores the fine balance between them and us.
Corey Baker Dance’s short film Lying Together, to celebrate World Environment Day raises awareness of the impact of climate change. Lying Together was filmed in rural and urban settings across Hong Kong, including aerial footage of the dancers performing on the tops of the city’s highest skyscrapers. Chen Zhiayo, Amber Lewis, Li Jiabo, Ma Renjie, Forrest Rain Oliveros along with other members of Hong Kong Ballet company, perform Baker’s iconic quirky choreography with musical accompaniment from acclaimed multi-instrumentalist FKJ
A poignant and unique solo performance by Birmingham Royal Ballet‘s Principal Dancer Céline Gittens. This “gift to you”, The Swan, has an ending specially adapted by the Company’s Artistic Director Carlos Acosta. He says this “dance about life, about hope”, which was filmed in performers’ homes, is “a new beginning”.
