A pair of Artists in Berlin

Currently in Berlin there is a queer couple making stunning art together.

German artist Stefan Merkt is celebrating 30 years of making his unique style of portraiture constructed entirely out of postage stamps.  This latest exhibition of his work is at Romeo und Romeo a gay coffee shop in Berlin until May 12th 2019.

Merkt has had  900 exhibitions (most in Germany). He loves  I like to show his work in queer spaces,  small galleries, coffee bars, cultural places … once in a gym, a cow stable, a church,  theaters or at the hairdresser round the corner… In the past 30 years her has created some  2700 pictures and objects created with stamps  that totals around 613 square meters  of artwork

Merkt’s boyfriend is Chilean queer singer/songwriter Mauricio Riveros who lives part time in Mexico.  To celebrate the Merkt Exhibition, he has just released his first music video he has recorded in English.

Riveros has enjoyed considerable success in Hispanic America where he is recognised as both a singer and poet.  Originally he performed with the band TRUMAN but now as a soloist he has made numerous tours and literary exhibitions showing his albums and books for what is considered by the specialized press as a representative of poetic rock.

His 2017 album Verevebal 2007-2017 looks back at the last ten years of his musical work.  Here’s one of our favorite tracks
