A Billion Times I Love You : a queer love story

Founded in 2004, the Liverpool UK-based HOMOTOPIA Festival is now the UK’s longest-running LGBTQIA arts and culture festival. It’s art an and social justice organization that is making a significant cultural impact through both art and activism.

Every October/November the Homotopia Festival presents a variety of LGBTQIA art across multiple venues and outdoor spaces in the city. Prior to that this year there will be the world premiere of  A Billion Times I Love You the winner of the Homotopia Writers’ Award 2021. 

It’s the story of Jesse (Mary Higginsand Taylor (Melissa Lowetwo young women in love. At least they think they are. But do we ever really know what love feels like for the other person? Is it real love, if they don’t always say it back?

This brilliant new play written by Patrick Maguire and directed by Jessica Meade, is a 60 minute rollercoaster ride through the backchat and bust-ups, kisses and cleaning products that underscore one couple’s hunt for queer romantic bliss.  It is about finding new ways to say I love you, when it feels like your soulmate’s stopped listening.

Plus it features unreleased music by Crawlers, one of the UK’s most exciting new rock bands.
