Sir Richard Branson‘s VIRGIN ATLANTIC which has always been one on the most LGBTQ friendliest arline in the world, showed their true colors this weekend with a very special flight from London to New York for World Pride 2019.
The moment this history making flight code VS69 entirely staffed by LGBTQ staff took off from Gatwick Airport, the party began on board.
Drag queen Jodie Marsh had set up her decks in the middle of the plane to play non-stop classic gay anthems like It’s Raining Men and Crazy in Love. Thanks to the well-stock bars on board drink was flowing and the more staid Upper Class which was invaded with party goers were part of the exuberant and celebratory atmosphere that lasted the whole fight.
Titus Burgess, from Netflix hit The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was hosting hosting the journey and he was helped by three outrageous drag queens marching up and down the aisles in sky-high platform heels. As good as they were it was all the passengers and board who made the most fun with their plane wide conga line infused by Virgin’s signature pink gin cocktail.
When the plane with the 284 passengers and crew onboard touched down in New York after a 6 hour party there was a whirr of cheers and claps – and the biggest cheer for the crew – which continued into a musical welcome at Newark airport. By then the Bar didn’t have a single drop on booze left.
Maybe we should all right to Sir Richard to make this a regular event, as it would surely make travelling across the Pond so much more fun.
