I’ve always wanted a good excuse to visit Joshua Tree National Park and the Mojave Desert region is Southern California, now I have one. Coming up at the end of the month is the 2nd Edition of 29 Queer Film Festival in the city of Twentynine Palms, right near the Park entrance. This year’s festival showcases bold new voices in queer cinema from the high desert and around the world. with a dynamic program of features, shorts, music videos, and live events—all dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ creativity and storytelling in this breathtaking location. Its an intimate yet dynamic program that includes narrative and documentary features, short films, music videos, and special presentations. With screenings, panels, and performances, the festival aims to foster dialogue, inspire new ideas, and promote LGBTQ+ representation through the art of cinema.
Here are Queerguru’s Top Picks of Must See Films :
PONYBOI: This thoroughly entertaining film is making such a significant contribution to the genre of queer cinema,. It’s the first ever written by and starring an out intersex person, River Gallo, and it tells a raw and riveting story of identity, survival, and chosen family. PONYBOI, which has already won Best U.S. Narrative Feature at NewFest has surely set the standard for future films that hopefully follow. They, however, will need the passion and talent of a River Gallo to succeed…. and of course, their disarming charm…..
