The actor Andrew Sachs who played the hapless and much beloved waiter Manuel in Fawlty Towers (ranked number one in a list of the 100 Greatest British Television Programs by the British Film Institute) died recently aged 86. Sachs had a long and distinguished career on TV and in Films that lasted almost 60 years, but it was for his role in John Cleese’s brilliant parody of a bad small seaside Hotel called Fawlty Towers filmed in 1975 & 1979 that he became a much beloved iconic comic figure.
There were only 12 episodes of thee program ever made but they are still screened all over the world still today. Here are a couple of queerguru’s favorite ‘Manual’ moments.
